Giants successful Home Coming

09/08/2011

The Huddersfield Giants returned to the Galpharm Stadium after playing three of their home games at The Shay Stadium in Halifax, the reason for the temporary move was to enable the resurfacing of the pitch at The Galpharm, with the new pitch being comparable to the standard of Wembley.  On 30th July the Giants took on Hull KR in a match which was aired on Sky Sports, the final result topped the day off for the Giants supporters with a 46 to 26 victory over Hull KR.

There was a big marketing push for the homecoming match and this was a great opportunity for people to get involved and come down to show their support for the Giants, ticket prices were slashed to just £10 for adults. The creative for the homecoming was used across the internet, in press releases, promotional material, videos and on the club's website.

Fluid were behind the artwork designed to promote The Giants Homecoming. The artwork included a Giants branded mini convertible with three of the Giants players driving back to The Galpharm Stadium. The caricatures drawing, which included Giants favourites, Eorl Crabtree, Leroy Cudjoe and Captain Kevin Brown, was a big success in promoting the homecoming game for the Huddersfield Giants and was well received by the fans and players. In fact Eorl Crabtree thought it was hillarious:

“It’s a fantastic promotion and the lads have all had a good laugh about it. It’s a bit of fun designed to help promote the game, although it’s typical that I would have to be the one driving – usually I’m the first to call ‘shotgun’ as a passenger though!

Fluid were pleased to be involved in such an important event, we do a lot of work with the Giants, but this was different, we were able to design something you wouldn't usually see promoting rugby league.
