New Developments for 4 Nations Website

03/11/2011

We're busy in the office at the moment supporting the Four Nations tournament, which is running for the next few weeks. We have been involved with the Official Four Nations website for 4 years now and are proud of the way it looks this year.
The site is packed full of information with news, videos, fixtures and results, as well as ticket sales and venue information, all powered by the CMS we developed. During the tournament the website is expected to receive a high volume of traffic from fans here and in the southern hemisphere, as the number 1 place for up to date action on the games.

The Live Scores facility streams scores from the pitch side, that you can track on your mobile, ipad or laptop. The site has been optimised for speed with a minimum use of images and updates automatically with Javascript. Just one page contains all the team information, try and goal updates, last years results and also has the latest tweets containing #4nations. All the data is fed automatically from the Press Association so is fast and reliable.

We have also developed the Predictor Game which is an application on the Four Nations Official Facebook page. The main aim of the Predictor Game is to increase the usage and number of likes for the Four Nations Facebook page, you must like the game to be able to play it. There is no sign up requirement for existing Facebook users, they can simply input their predictions for any of the games through the app and any points are awarded automatically. Points will be awarded for correct predictions of the match winner along with points for accuracy of the scores. There is a main leader board which shows your current position against everyone playing the game as well as a friends only leader board, where the Predictor Game accesses users friends information to display them in a mini league together, you don't have to create passwords and invite friends - it's all done for you. Down the side of the app there is a social comments widget built in so players can see all the latest discussions and banter going on between other players. The prize for the overall winner is a pair of tickets to the Final at Elland Road on 19th November.

We've started our own competition in the office, the prize....a big box of biscuits! Current leader is Lucy with 11 points, but Steve is confident her reign won't last after the games this weekend.
